What should cities do first to prepare for hotter summers?

HHappy OrbisYayımlandı Güncelleme

Trees, water, shade, building design, parks and transport all influence how cities experience extreme heat.

But municipal budgets are limited.

If your city could make only three investments during the next ten years, what should they be?

A shaded route to school might matter more to a family than a new park on the other side of the city. An older resident in a hot apartment may need a different response again. Planting trees also means choosing suitable species and paying for years of care. Let us talk about where an investment would help, who would benefit and how the city would know it worked.

• Which places become hardest to use? • Who needs protection first? • How should maintenance be funded?
