GOVERNMENTS / PUBLIC EDUCATION
National Environmental Education Program
Happy Orbis is developing a national environmental education program for governments and public institutions. The program brings scientific knowledge into everyday life through practical learning, international exchange and locally relevant activities.
Practical Environmental Education for Everyone.
We welcome discussions with prospective national partners.
About the Program
Our goal is to help people understand environmental challenges and make informed decisions at school, at work and in their communities. Our approach is non-partisan, grounded in scientific evidence and focused on practical, voluntary action.
Why Governments Partner With Happy Orbis
A national partnership would connect public education priorities with an agreed calendar of learning activities, accessible materials and transparent reporting. Each pilot would define its audiences, responsibilities and intended learning outcomes before delivery begins.
Who We Educate
Secondary Schools
Practical environmental learning connected to students’ everyday lives.
Universities
Opportunities to connect research, discussion and public understanding.
Businesses
Relevant learning for employees and informed workplace decisions.
Communities
Accessible conversations and activities that connect environmental knowledge with local life.
Environmental experience crosses borders. The program is designed to connect perspectives from different regions and adapt them to local needs. A national pilot could, for example, bring Latin American expertise into European classrooms or connect European experience with communities in India.
How the Program Works
Define the National Priorities
Agree the target audiences, topics, languages and intended learning outcomes.
Deliver the Learning Program
Develop an annual calendar of online lectures, educational campaigns and supporting materials, with speakers and participating institutions agreed for the pilot.
Review and Improve
Evaluate participation, feedback and learning outcomes, then use the findings to improve subsequent activities.
Flexible National Implementation
Each country has its own educational priorities and environmental context. Topics could include water, biodiversity, waste, climate literacy and the connections between land and ocean. Scope, delivery arrangements and institutional participation would be agreed with the national partner.
Measuring Educational Impact
Each pilot would use an agreed evaluation plan covering participation, institutional reach, participant feedback and changes in knowledge. Where appropriate, follow-up surveys could explore reported changes in everyday behaviour. Educational outcomes would be reported separately from any measured environmental outcomes.
Our educational approach
Our educational approach draws on the European Commission’s GreenComp framework and UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development principles. The following pages explain how these references inform Happy Orbis.
International Educational Frameworks
Informed by international educational frameworks, our planned approach connects practical learning with sustainability competencies and the objectives of education for sustainable development.
Happy Orbis & GreenComp
Developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, GreenComp provides a reference for sustainability competencies. Its emphasis on systems thinking, critical thinking and individual initiative can inform the design of our learning activities.

UNESCO’s ESD for 2030 framework strengthens the role of education in sustainable development. Its focus on educators, young people and local communities provides useful perspectives for the program’s planned learning activities and international exchange.

We invite ministries, government agencies and public institutions to discuss a national pilot of the National Environmental Education Program. Together, we can define a practical scope, delivery plan and evaluation framework suited to your country.
