This notice describes the current private Happy Orbis review site.
Membership and public contributions
Membership stores your name, email, a password hash and session records. Your profile starts private. Publishing a profile displays the fields you choose, your country, interests and public contributions. Your email is never shown in member directories. You can make your profile private or withdraw your activities; moderation and verification records may be retained for accountability.
What is stored
Contact inquiries store your name, email, organisation, selected collaboration category, message and submission time. These details are used to review and respond to your inquiry, and are not added to a marketing mailing list. Saved ocean areas are associated with your signed-in identifier.
Access and service providers
The review site uses its hosting platform for access control and Cloudflare-backed storage. Ocean imagery requests are made to NASA and EMODnet through the application server. Provider requests contain the requested map extent and date, not your contact details.
Analytics and browser storage
The application can store aggregate interaction events without a persistent visitor identifier. Rate limiting temporarily retains a hashed request identifier. The service worker caches only the offline fallback page; it does not cache contact details, private API responses or signed-in account data. No advertising trackers are installed. Your language preference is stored in your browser.
Your choices
Submitting a contact inquiry is optional. You can delete saved areas from your watchlist. For access or deletion of an inquiry, use the contact form and identify the original submission.
Before public launch
The legal operator’s identity, privacy contact, applicable lawful bases, retention schedule and processor arrangements must be confirmed before opening this site to the public or accepting commercial customers. This private review notice is not a completed public privacy policy.
